Wichitans Celebrate Release of ‘TJ Crowley' at Watermark Books & Café

WICHITA, Kan. -- An enthusiastic crowd gathered Nov. 19th at Watermark Books & Cafe to celebrate the release of author Grant Overstake's young adult novel, The Real Education of TJ Crowley, which is set in Wichita in the racially turbulent years of 1968-69.

Listen to the program, recorded by Watermark Books.The program begins with an introduction and welcome by publicist Mark Chamberlin of Armstrong Chamberlin Strategic Marketing. Chamberlin, a current board member of the Wichita Public Library Foundation and former KAKE-TV news reporter, shares his appreciation for the story and its value to Wichitans.

Next, Dr. Jay M. Price, Ph.D., Chairman of the History Department at Wichita State University, shares about the importance of Overstake's novel from a local historical perspective. Author Overstake expresses his gratitude for the support he received in the process of writing the book, and shares how The Real Education of TJ Crowley was inspired by his own personal experiences and the experiences of others who grew up in Wichita.
